My very own Kor One Bottle arrived in the mail this last week! Completely rethinking the ‘bottle’ and all for one-handed use. Not to mention it’s beautifully designed by RKS Design of Thousand Oaks, CA. I love it!
Listen to Eric Barnes, Founder of Kor, in collaboration with Ravi Sawhney, CEO of RKS Design, talk about design of their BPA free resuable WaterBottle.
Buy one for about $30.

Jigger (to measure liquid) with bottom used as an Ice-Mallet, combined with Corkscrew and Bottle-cap Opener for a handle. (sorry image taken with cellphone camera)
I had dinner at my friend Chris’s house this past weekend to enjoy some good food, drink, and company. He showed me this great little do-dad of a Barware accessory. Why don’t they make these anymore?! After doing a little hunting online, it seems that this is a vintage Jigger from the 1930’s or 50’s. It makes so much sense; all your tools in one place. What a shame, because I want one! VintageSwank carries one that is most similar, but the aesthetic lines are so much cleaner in design with the one above. Please let me know if you know where I can get my hands on one of these (because Chris would kill me if I swiped his ;))!

I was at my cousin’s restaurant this weekend, Blue 22, and placed in front of me was the drink coaster above. The New Glass has been out on the market for over a year now, developed with the help of “world-renowned sensory experts” (Boston.com). Is this a marketing scheme or true R+D efforts to design the new glass? Buy one and test it out for yourself here from Sam Adams.

Cabot’s is a family owned and operated old-fashioned ice cream parlor and restaurant. We are especially known for our generous portions of unique premium ice cream and frozen yogurt creations. We serve breakfast (all day), lunch, dinner and late night treats featuring deli style sandwiches, wraps, flame-broiled burgers, salads, and traditional home-style dinners.
What more could one ask for? Especially in an environment that brings you back to the ’70s. I remember going to Cabot’s as a kid and loving it! (not that I was alive in the 70’s, but you get the point.) That nostalgic feeling and environment is certainly working to their benefit. A definite classic spot for locals and tourists alike.

- Activity #2: The Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, MA.
This weekend there was a European bike show which I attended with a couple of friends. A great opportunity to take the camera out for some interesting photos. (Wish I could have stayed longer.) Not to mention the bikes on display were so interesting to look at from a pure product perspective. I may not know too much about them, but I could certainly appreciate the attention to design details that were addressed in the variety of bikes shown.
Photos after the jump.

There were 4 Target’s Bullseye Bodegas open for 4 days in NYC. Sounds like an interesting store concept that carried designer-named designs for Target products.
Now, ever wonder where these name-designers got themselves into Target? Your answer at Target’s Design Scout from BusinessWeek

Having grown up in a house where proper etiquette and table manners were strongly enforced, this product strikes a cord. From Demelza Hill’s website, her Snap and Dine product encourages proper tableware use even in an informal outdoor evironment.

This is such a clever (and marketable) way to bridge emotional connection to comfort foods, as well as addressing chocolate for health benefits!
The range, which includes The Chocolate First Aid Kit, Mini Emergency chocolate bars, and Seven Day Prescriptions, will be available across the UK from Waitrose, John Lewis and Fenwick.

Left: Chairs seen at an Antique store in Hingham, MA
Right: Cherner Armchair from DesignWithinReach
I got to see an old high school friend this weekend and we were taking a nice stroll to Starbucks. On our way there we passed this cute little antique store (chairs on left). They are quite interesting and the fabric is so vibrant! It so happened in one of my recent magazine subscriptions that there was an advertisement for the DWR Cherner Chair (chair right). Now, this got me to do a little simple research and found: aha! Custom Cherner Chairs. Now, who will be the one fooled to buy very contemporary furniture from an antique store? I wonder if the store owner knows the whole story…

Wasara: a line of disposable paper tableware made from reed pulp and bagasse (sugarcane waste), inspired by Japanese aesthetics.
So refined! So simple! So elegant! Plain beautiful.

Another one of those products we all wish we thought of first!
A great little container that has an outer flexible shell for ice-cube making and an inner container to store those ice-cubes or anything else you may want to keep cold (ice cream, dip, wine..)
Remove the inner container and partially fill the outer shell with water. Place inner container back into the outer shell to displace the water and fill the Orb. Freeze and voila! Ice-cubes are ready to be popped out of the shell and into the container or take the whole thing with you as a mini-chiller.
Demo and Purchase IceOrb here from FusionBrands.
